Whether you are at the beginning of your college planning process or at the end, it is important to take a few things into consideration.Please find links to resources that may assist you and your family through this journey.

9th Grade

  • Take college prep courses which include:
    • English 9 CP or English 9 ECP
    • Lab Science: Biology CP or Biology HP
    • Math: Integrated Math I, I ECP or higher
    • Foreign Language (2 years required) or Fine Art (1 year required)
  • Pass all courses with a “C” or higher in each class
  • Take PSAT 9 exam
  • Maintain good attendance and begin developing good study habits and routines
  • Begin exploring career fields you are interested in
  • Apply for scholarships in Career Center
  • Join clubs and complete community service

 


 

10th Grade

  • Take college prep courses which include:
    • English 10 CP or English 10 HP
    • Lab Science: Chemistry CP or Chemistry HP
    • Math: Integrated Math II, II ECP or higher
    • History: World History CP, World History HP or AP European History
    • Foreign Language (2 years required) or Fine Art (1 year required)
  • Pass all courses with a “C” or higher in each class
  • Maintain good attendance and begin developing good study habits and routines
  • Take PSAT 10 exam
  • Apply for scholarships in Career Center
  • Join clubs and complete community service

 


 

11th Grade

  • Take college prep courses which include:
    • English 11 CP or AP English Language, Women's Literature
    • Lab Science: (3 years recommended) Physics HP, Anatomy/Physiology HP, Marine Biology and Ecology HP, AP Environmental Science, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Forensic Science and Investigation
    • Math: Integrated Math III, III ECP or higher
    • History: US History or AP US History
    • Foreign Language (3 years recommended) or Fine Art
    • 1 year college prep elective
  • Pass all courses with a “C” or higher in each class
  • Maintain good attendance and begin developing good study habits and routines
  • Take SAT/ACT Tests: Fee Waivers may be available. See Ms. Richardson.
  • Apply for scholarships in Career Center
  • Join clubs and complete community service

 

College Visits

If you have the opportunity to visit colleges prior to applying, this may help in narrowing down your search for the right college fit. Below is a link to questions for you to ask and think about during your college visits.

                                                             


 

12th Grade

Take college prep courses which include:

  • English 12 CP or AP English Literature, Women's Literature, Shakespeare, CSU ERWC, Victorian Literature and Poetry
  • Lab Science: (3 years recommended) Physics HP, Anatomy/Physiology HP, Marine Biology and Ecology HP, AP Environmental Science, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Forensic Science and Investigation
  • Math: (4 years recommended) MRWC, Precalculus, AP Calculus, Statistics, AP Statistics or higher
  • Social Science: American Gov't/Economics or AP Am Govt /AP Econ
  • Foreign Language (3 years recommended) or Fine Art
  • 1 year college prep elective

 

  • Pass all courses with a “C” or higher in each class
  • Maintain good attendance and begin developing good study habits and routines
  • Take SAT/ACT Tests before December: Fee Waivers may be available. See Ms. Richardson.
  • Apply for scholarships in Career Center
  • Letters of Recommendation for college applications (if needed)
  • Apply to college October/November
  • Complete Financial Aid by March 2nd
  • Join clubs and complete community service
