VICTORVILLE — Silverado High School has hired Keron Jones as its new head football coach, school officials announced Tuesday.

Jones previously served as the Hawks’ defensive coordinator for seven years under previous head coach Rafael Ginorio, who stepped down after last season to spend more time with his family.

Jones’ defenses were part of back-to-back appearances in the CIF semifinals in 2016 and 2017, including a finals appearance in 2016. He also served as Silverado’s assistant head coach.

“As a longtime coach and active member of the community, Coach Jones brings decades of football experience,” Principal Heather Conkle said. “He is committed to continuing Silverado football’s tradition of excellence.”

Before coming to Silverado in 2012, Jones was the president of Adelanto Saints Youth Football, where he also served as a coach.
